Welcome to the new CE Murphy.net!

The redesign is partly in celebration of HANDS OF FLAME's official release, and partly in anticipation of an upcoming announcement which is most deserving of a new look and feel. There'll be more about that in the next month, so keep an eye out around here.

Things that have changed: all my writing--teasers, essays, online fiction--has been consolidated. The FAQ has been updated a bit. I'll be adding more essays and non-fiction over the next few weeks, and perhaps a few more short stories. Several unused pages have been removed, and in general I hope it's tidier around here.

For those of you who've been regulars at the site, you'll notice I've gone away from the blog-based front page I've had for the last year or so. I'm consolidating my blogs to my personal site at mizkit.com (or mizkit.livejournal.com, if you happen to be an LJ user). The redesign here is almost done, but I'm looking for one more element that readers can help me with: if you'd like to give me a favorite quote from one of my books (you can cite page and line if you think it’s spoilish, and I’ll do the rest), please post it in comments here. No more than about 200 words, but I'd love to see what bits people like best and would like to come across on the site.

I will be in London at the Forbidden Planet on 18 September, 2008, from 6-7pm, to sign copies of HANDS OF FLAME (and any others of my books people would like me to sign!). I'm really looking forward to this signing, and hope a few England-based readers might show up and say hello.

A few months ago, The Falcata Times interviewed me, and that interview is now up in the Falcata Times #7. My interview starts on page 34, but there are a *ton* of other cool authors in there as well, so go read and enjoy!

Also, I'll be writing a short story for a Morrigan Books anthology this fall, for publication sometime (I believe) in 2009.

HANDS OF FLAME

And with her gargoyle lover, Alban, taken prisoner, Margrit's only allies--a dragon bitter about his fall, a vampire determined to hold his standing at any cost and a mortal detective with no idea what he's up against--have demands of their own.

Determined to rescue Alban and torn between conflicting loyalties as the battle seeps into the human world, Margrit soon realizes the only way out is through the fire....
